1. We are not the restoration company

SiFixit is a referral service. Every technician who attends a property works for an independent restoration company, not for us. We do not perform, supervise, price or warrant their work, and listing a market here does not mean we operate an office in that city.

Restoration companies pay us for referrals. Property owners pay nothing. This means we have a commercial interest in you submitting a request, and you should read the site with that in mind. It also means we have no incentive to tell you a job is bigger than it is, because we are not the ones billing for the work.

3. Content is general information

Pages describing water categories, drying methods, mold remediation, biohazard procedures, insurance and cost drivers are written for general understanding. They are not:

  • Professional restoration advice for your specific property
  • A coverage determination under your insurance policy
  • Medical advice about exposure to mold or biological hazards
  • Legal advice on contracts, claims or assignment of benefits

Conditions vary by building, climate, policy and state. Decisions about your property should be made with the professional who has inspected it.

4. Emergencies

This website is not an emergency service and is not monitored around the clock unless stated and verified. If there is a risk to life, a fire, a gas leak, an electrical hazard or a medical emergency, call 911. For a suspected gas leak or a downed power line, call your utility provider from a safe distance.

5. Cost figures

Where cost ranges appear on this site, they are general industry figures shown to explain what drives price. They are not quotes, they are not binding on any provider, and they may be out of date. Only a written estimate from a provider who has seen the property is a price.

6. References to standards

This site refers to published industry standards such as the IICRC S500 for water damage restoration, the ANSI/IICRC S520 for mold remediation, and the OSHA bloodborne pathogens standard for biohazard work. Referring to a standard describes how the industry operates. It is not a claim that SiFixit, or any particular provider, is certified, accredited or endorsed by those bodies.
