How we create our content

Who creates Sifixit content, how we research it, how we use AI tools, how we check facts and how we earn money.

Sifixit helps US homeowners understand home problems and find a local provider to call. This page explains who creates our content, how we research it, how we use AI tools, how we check facts and how we earn money, so you can judge how much to trust what you read here.

Who creates our content

Sifixit is run by Muhammad Ishaq Hassan, known as Ishaq Khokhar. He plans the topics, sets the rules every page must follow and decides what is published. He is not a contractor, plumber, roofer or restoration technician, and Sifixit does not inspect homes, quote prices or carry out any work. We never invent experts, fake author profiles or fake reviews.

How we research

Our pages are built from official and reliable public sources, including:

  • Federal agencies such as the EPA, FEMA, CDC, OSHA and the National Weather Service
  • Standards bodies such as the NFPA and the IICRC
  • State licensing boards and contractor registration offices
  • City and county permit offices, and local water and power utilities
  • Reporting from established news outlets on local storms and events

City pages describe local conditions such as storms, soil, building age, permit offices and licensing rules, so each page gives information that is useful for that place.

How we use AI tools

We use AI tools to help research topics, organize information and draft pages. A person decides what to publish, sets the rules for accuracy and tone, and checks the facts on our most important pages. AI output is never published as advice from a professional, and we do not use AI to create fake people, images of people or reviews.

How we check facts

  • Facts such as laws, licensing rules, dates of storms and safety advice are checked against the sources listed above
  • Pages that have been checked by a person show a line that says Facts last checked, with the date
  • When rules change or a reader points out an error, we correct the page and update that date
  • Safety information always points to official advice, such as calling 911 or the gas company in an emergency

How Sifixit earns money

Sifixit is free for homeowners. When you call a number on our site, we may be paid by a call partner or a local company for connecting the call. This never changes the facts we publish. We do not rank or recommend specific companies, and the providers you speak to are independent businesses. You can read more in our disclaimer.

What we will not do

  • Promise prices, discounts, free estimates or results
  • Claim to be the best, the cheapest or the highest rated
  • Publish fake reviews, fake experts or made up statistics
  • Hide that Sifixit is a referral service

Corrections and feedback

If you find a mistake or something out of date, please tell us through our contact page. We review every report and fix confirmed errors.
